Gaza News & Donation Page

International relief and development charity’s Glasgow the Caring City (GtCC) and World Emergency Relief (WER) are this week sending a consignment of emergency aid to Gaza as the number of civilians injured in the conflict between Palestine and Israel continues to escalate.

The consignment is being sent from the Glasgow base of charity Glasgow the Caring City (GtCC) and contains over 1.5 tons of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, some of which were donated to our partnership by the UK non-governmental organisation International Health Partners (IHP).

The supplies are being air freighted to Jordan and will be used by our local partner agency to treat injured children and other civilians in the Jordanian Field Hospital established in Gaza.

WER and GtCC are experienced in working in co-operation to provide an effective response to conflict situations and humanitarian disasters. In 2008 WER and GtCC working together sent over 45 tons of humanitarian aid to communities in need around the world, including to Sudan, Iraq and Burma (Myanmar). Since 2006 we have also shipped over 8 tons of humanitarian aid including food, clothes and medicines to Iraqi refugees who have been displaced into neighbouring Jordan by conflict within the country.

As well as responding to emergencies, we also works in partnership with community leaders to develop long-term solutions that are best suited to their local needs. We currently support more than 30 projects, including orphanages, healthcare and education, in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Central America and the Caribbean Basin.
