Pakistan
Glasgow the Caring City supports a variety of projects in and around Lahore, Pakistan.
Glasgow the Caring City and the Government of Lahore have a strong relationship, built from years of close relations and hardwork aimed at regenerating communities and services in Lahore District.
The flagship project of this relationship, is the establishment of a modern, highly trained and well equiped Fire and Rescue Service.
Glasgow the Caring City, through local partners in the UK were able to source, ship and implement a program of equipment modernisation and training, as supported by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, The Fire Brigades Union and Lothain and Borders Fire and Rescue.
The service was tested to the extreme in the aftermath of the devistating earthquake which struck the region to the North and West of Lahore. Highly trained crews were able to aid in the rescue of victims and delivery of aid to effected communities, in a model similar to that of the UK.
In addition to the two Scania Fire and Rescue trucks, GtCC has also provide a all-wheel drive Toyota vehicle for remote rescue and recovery.
