Uganda

Glasgow the Caring City's 4x4 toyota on route to the IDP camps, lira district Northern Uganda.

Glasgow the Caring City and our partners at World Emergency Relief and All Nations Christian Care have created a fantastic partnership which supports community regeneration and relocation of families, affected by the decades of civil war in Northern Uganda.

Our projects focus on health, education, sanitation and water, food, domestic development and even electricity generation.

In a region where an estimated 1.7million people live or have lived in IDP camps, aid and sustaining development are essential to the wellbeing and safety of millions, this is why in 2006 our International Projects Manager, Ross Galbraith travelled to meet with and plan for a future for the communities worst effected during the 21 year conflict.

In a positive development, Northern Uganda has now become an access point to Southern Sudan, where conditions in villages and hamlets are extremely poor. Thanks to our links in Uganda our work can also extend into Sudan, providing hope and support at a crucial time for this region.
