The Caring City on the road to Wembley
Registered Charity-Glasgow The Caring City is delighted to launch the Caring City Cup, a five a side tournament, taking place in London on Saturday 25th July.
As you know Celtic will take part in the Wembley Cup that weekend. The official tournament runs on the Friday and Sunday so if you are looking for something to do on the Saturday in between why not get involved with the Caring City Cup, celebrating 10 years of Glasgow the Caring City.
The tournament will take place at the Goals five-a-side complex in Wembley, with the famous arch of Wembley Stadium in view, 10am until 1pm. Applicant teams are invited to email caringcityfives@hotmail.co.uk
Once again there is no cash entrance fee for taking part, the project is education in Malawi and donations of school kit are requested. Either on the day, or by delivery to the charity’s warehouse; Units 6&7 Linn Park Industrial Estate, Castlemilk, 315 Drakemire Drive, Glasgow, G45 9SS. The Charity’s partners at World Emergency Relief will ship donations directly to Malawi.
If you’re going for the tournament please come along and support the event. There will be teams representing each of the Wembley Cup participant teams. There will also be a kids penalty kick competition, some good fun, and when the final line up is announced we’ll also tell you about the after party somewhere in more central London.
Items requested are pencils, paper, pads, crayons, chalk, rulers, kids rucksacks, solar calculators and also disposable cameras. Many of the kids have never seen a photograph. We plan to let them take photos of themselves, have them developed back here and sent back for their classroom wall. We’ll get copies too so you can see what this means to the kids. Electrical equipment and text books are not appropriate but if you have a wind-up powered radio these would be very welcome.
If you can’t take part but want to make a donation to the running of the event and the photographs you’re most welcome to make a donation through the Charity directly at www.glasgowthecaringcity.com
